I was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  I graduated from Cudahy Senior High School, Cudahy Wisconsin in 1980.  I enlisted as a member as the Wisconsin Air National Guard during my senior year of high school and immediately after graduation left for boot camp in Texas.  I completed boot camp and technical training in time for me to attend college in the fall 1980.

I attended college at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.  I graduated with dual majors, political science and public administration in May 1983.  During college, I supported myself working as a licensed private detective with Pinkertons and as a law enforcement officer with the Air National Guard.  During a couple summers, I worked security, apprehending shoplifters, for Six Flags Theme Park in Chicago, Illinois.

I received my Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.  While in law school, I was a member of the law review and an active member of the Student Bar Assn.  During law school, I had the honor of clerking for eight criminal court judges for the Shelby County Criminal Courts.   I was also sworn in the Tennessee Air National Guard where I continued to work as a Law Enforcement Officer.  I graduated from law school in 1987.

I relocated at that time to California and became a licensed attorney in the State of California in 1987.  I practiced law in California in the San Francisco Bay area and Sacramento from 1987 through 1993.  I worked primarily in civil litigation as a trial attorney.  I started practicing law in Colorado in January 1993.

Since January 1993, I have devoted the majority of my time to family law matters, including divorce, maintenance, child custody, child support, property division, post-decree issues, pre/post marital agreement and adoption.  I also have an active small estate practice, which includes wills, powers of attorney, guardianships, conservatorship and probate.  I have completed forty hours of training to become a mediator.

In addition to an active law practice, I have maintained a strong commitment to the legal community serving on the Larimer County Bar Association Professional Committee from 1996 through the present.  I was elected to the Larimer County Bar Association executive committee from 2002-2006.  In 2005-2006, I was the President of the Larimer County Bar Association.

Outside the practice of law, I enjoy volunteer work with community organizations.  I served on the Board of Directors for six years.  I am a manager for the Rocky Hockey club for Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins.  I have two sons.  Both have played hockey since they were young.  Both sons are currently attending college.
